The CKCATS team continues to work hard to provide services in all counties. Medicaid trips continue to keep our staff busy.
CKCATS took a total of 46 Seniors to the Senior Celebration in Elizabethtown on May 21st. The turnout was very successful as always! It was a day full of connection, celebration, and community. We are very proud to participate and partner in making this event successful each year.
CKCATS attended the annual contract meeting with our Brokers on June 5th and June 26th. These meetings are held each year to sign new contracts, discuss new rates, and any issues or concerns that any of the Sub-contractors may have. All was well on both ours and the Brokers’ end.
CKCATS set up a booth at Senior Fair Day at the Fairgrounds in Marion County on July 7th and at the LaRue County Senior Day at the LaRue Co. Extension Office on July 31st. These are other successful events that are held each year for the Seniors in Marion and LaRue counties. Seniors get to eat, play games, listen to music, and congregate with other Seniors while learning about the services that are offered to them in their area.
Several staff members of the CKCATS team attended the Community Action Kentucky (CAK) Conference in Lexington on June 9th. This was a very informative training course that consisted of a day that concentrated on transportation.
CKCATS fleet has improved tremendously within a couple of years. We just recently received 12 new minivans that will be distributed throughout all counties. We are currently in the process of getting our safety inspections performed on the new vehicles, and then they will go to Nukem Graphics to complete the decals. We are excited for our passengers to ride in our new vehicles and are grateful that we can give them a pleasant experience on public transport. We are now in the process of going through our old fleet that has met their useful life and are not being used so that we can auction them to have more room for our new vehicles. Currently, we are waiting for 1 more new cutaway bus that should be in before the end of the year.
CATS is gearing up for our annual training on August 15th. This year’s training will be different from the ones in the past. Employees will be split into groups and there will be learning sessions and hands-on training sessions that the employees will complete. The sessions will include icebreakers and games like Jeopardy and Pictionary that will test employees’ knowledge. The goal is for employees to learn while having some fun doing so. I am excited for the employees to see the modifications done with the training and plan to survey them to get their thoughts and ideas on the changes.
