Head Start and Early Head Start

Central Kentucky Community Action believes in inspiring life-long learning. Through our Head Start and Early Head Start programs, we remain committed to delivering a comprehensive, high-quality education for children and families. Our programs promote children’s development through services that support early learning, health, and family well-being while engaging parents as partners every step of the way. Serving the communities of Marion, Washington, Larue, Meade, Hardin and Nelson counties, our programs are designed to help pre-school age children from low-income families become school ready, able to achieve high academic standards. School Readiness

Ensuring that our student population is prepared to enter kindergarten at or above the state school readiness goals is our primary objective. Our screening, assessment and curriculum tools allow us to identify potential developmental delays, measure each child’s school readiness and develop an educational plan that is designed to maximize each student’s success.

Health and Mental Health Services

A child’s physical and mental well-being heavily influences their ability to focus, learn and develop academically. We take pride in being able to provide much-needed screenings and services that help ensure each child has the resources needed to be successful. From dental, vision and physical exams to hearing screenings and access to immunizations, we work with parents to ensure children have the foundation they need to excel.

Parent Engagement

We strive to maintain an effective program of family support through the active involvement of parents. Parents are strongly encouraged to take advantage of the many opportunities to stay involved in their child’s education, as well as activities that foster future success. Through a variety of events and activities, we help bring parents and children together to celebrate education.

Striving for Excellence

Our highly qualified teachers help us carry out our core mission every day. The talent and dedication of our teaching staff help us raise the bar and reach for the stars, literally. Each of our centers remain at the highest levels of standards as indicated by either a 4-Star or 5-Star rating in the STARS for KIDS NOW initiative.

Additionally, the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) has awarded accreditation to four of our centers. NAEYC-accredited early learning programs are meticulously measured for indicators of quality in the classroom and beyond. Accreditation ensures that programs are safe, well prepared, and intentional about ensuring children’s success.
