Engaging and showing compassion for our senior community is what our dedicated and passionate volunteers strive to do every day. Through our Senior Companion Program, volunteers provide seniors one-on-one interaction, building friendships as a result. It’s no surprise that 95 percent of our clients and their families reported feeling less lonely and received more social support and social ties since joining the program.
Through our Congregate Meals Program, we are focused on providing hot, nutritious meals to senior citizens throughout the Lincoln Trail District. This past fiscal year, more than 100,000 meals were served to more than 6,000 participants at our Senior Centers.
Qualified seniors and individuals can take advantage of the many resources offered at any one of our 11 Senior Centers located throughout the Lincoln Trail District. Participants can not only sit down for a hot, nutritious meal, but also engage in nutrition education classes, exercise activities and interact with their peers.
Senior citizens age 60 and older may take advantage of any one of our pre-set transportation routes provided by the Central Kentucky Community Action Transportation System (CKCATS). Routes are available in Breckinridge, Grayson, Larue, Marion, Nelson and Washington counties. Whether it’s visiting one of our Senior Centers, going to a doctor’s appointment or just going to the grocery, CKCATS can help get you there.
