Through our Weatherization Assistance Program, Central Kentucky Community Action works to reduce energy waste and assure the health and safety of each client we serve. Trained technicians can help qualifying low-income families improve the overall energy efficiency of their homes, saving money and enhancing the quality of life for residents. Our service territory includes Breckinridge, Grayson, Hardin, Larue, Marion, Meade, Nelson and Washington counties. Applications can be obtained at the local Community Services Office found on our Locations page.
Below is a sample list of the various ways the Weatherization Assistance Program can provide energy conservation improvements to a dwelling, allowing the residents to live in a safer and healthier environment while reducing heating costs.
Sources of funding for the Weatherization Assistance Program include an annual allocation from the U.S. Department of Energy and a 15 percent transfer from the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program Block Grant if the Cabinet for Health and Family Services elects.
